Joel's Picks
While paging through the freshly edited pages of the upcoming 12th edition of my Top Pop Singles book, I stopped in the letter "G" and arbitrarily chose two songs from one page to set as my "Picks." I landed on Robert Goulet and Lou Gramm - two very different artists to demonstrate the incredible diversity of popular music. Goulet was once a very popular Broadway actor, known primarily for his role as "Sir Lancelot" in Camelot. Gramm was the lead singer Foreigner, a leading rock band in the 1970s and 1980s.
Just for fun, the "oo-oo-oo" accompaniment on "True Blue Love" is very reminiscent of another "oo-oo-oo" accompaniment on one of my earlier "Hot New" Picks. Can you guess which one? (See my 'Picks Archive.')
