Fifty years ago, some of my very favorite tunes and artists were regulars on the pop charts. The 4 Seasons had two of the top three hits of the year; it was the last year Elvis had three or more top 10 hits; Chubby Checker had the nation dancing with three smash hits; and there were nine instrumental top 10 hits in 1962.

Here are two of my all-time favorite songs and artists from that hit-packed year. For me, these tunes still sound as fresh as they did in '62.
