Staying In Character
Jimmy Stewart

Lee Marvin
"Wand'rin Star"

Reprising their characters on record were Jimmy Stewart in 1965 (Shenandoah) and Lee Marvin in 1969 (Paint Your Wagon). "The Legend Of Shenandoah" made it to #133 on the "Bubbling Under The Hot 100" chart. Marvin's "Wand'rin Star" did not chart in the U.S. but met success in the U.K. The song based on and named for the 1962 movie in which Stewart and Marvin faced off, was a big #4 hit for Gene Pitney; if you saw this great film you would know if the brave lawyer played by Stewart was "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," the bullying outlaw played by Marvin.
