Reprising their characters on record were Jimmy Stewart in 1965 (Shenandoah) and Lee Marvin in 1969 (Paint Your Wagon). "The Legend Of Shenandoah" made it to #133 on the "Bubbling Under The Hot 100" chart. Marvin's "Wand'rin Star," from Paint Your Wagon, did not chart in the U.S. but met success in the U.K. Stewart and Marvin faced off in the 1962 film The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, with Stewart as a lawyer, Marvin as an outlaw and John Wayne as a rancher. The movie's title song was a big #4 hit for Gene Pitney.
